AFT calculator

Enter your five event results, age and sex. The calculator scores each event on the official Army Fitness Test score tables and checks both standards: general (60 points per event, 300 total) and combat (60 points per event, 350 total, sex-neutral).

Army Fitness Test (AFT): the rules

  • The AFT has been the Army’s test of record since 1 June 2025. It has five events: deadlift, hand-release push-ups, sprint-drag-carry, plank and two-mile run.
  • General standard: at least 60 points in every event and 300 points in total, scored by sex and age group.
  • Combat standard: at least 60 points in every event and 350 points in total. It is sex-neutral and age-normed — every soldier is scored on the M|C column for their age group.
  • The combat standard applies from 1 January 2026 in the Regular Army and from 1 June 2026 in the Army Reserve and National Guard.
  • Army Directive 2026-07 (17 April 2026) extends the combat standard to 24 combat specialties, adding 12D, 89D and 89E to the 21 listed in 2025, and introduces a separate pass/fail Combat Field Test, which is not covered here.

FAQ

How is each event scored?

Each event is scored on the official table for your age group (and, under the general standard, your sex). A result earns the points of the highest table row it reaches. Some rows are empty in the official tables — no result gives exactly that score — so a small improvement can jump two or three points.

What score do I need to pass the AFT?

Under the general standard: at least 60 points in each of the five events and 300 in total. Under the combat standard: at least 60 points in each event and 350 in total. Five events at exactly 60 points give only 300, so the combat standard needs about 70 points per event on average.

Which soldiers are held to the combat standard?

Soldiers in combat specialties. The 2025 list had 21 MOS, among them 11A, 11B, 11C, 11Z, 12A, 12B, 13A, 13F, the Special Forces 18-series and 19A, 19C, 19D, 19K and 19Z. Army Directive 2026-07 added 12D, 89D and 89E.

Does the calculator cover the alternate aerobic events?

No. The walk, bike, swim and row alternates are go/no-go events and are not included.

Where do the numbers come from?

From the official “Army Fitness Test Score Tables” (approved 15 May 2025, effective 1 June 2025) on army.mil, extracted mechanically from the PDF and checked against it, and from Army Directive 2025-06, paragraph 4b, for the 60-point and 350-point rules.
