Jednostka Wojskowa NIL (JW 4724)
Fitness test: Ministry of Defence test at 90 points or more + 50 m swim (test sprawności fizycznej)

JW NIL, a special forces support unit, scores candidates with the 2024 Ministry of Defence fitness tables: the organiser picks 4 of 7 events, the 3,000 m is always one of them, and the total must reach 90–100 points — higher than FORMOZA’s 84 or the 80 for JWK support posts. A 50 m freestyle swim with no time limit is pass/fail, and failing it fails the whole test. Selection follows in the mountains: 3 days and about 60–100 km, or 5 days and about 100–140 km.

Rates from the 2026 pay regulation (Dz.U. 2026 poz. 212, applied from 1 Jan 2026) and the consolidated allowances regulation (Dz.U. 2026 poz. 611); allowances are multiples of a fixed 1,500 zł. NIL (JW 4724) is the special forces support unit and shares AGAT’s service allowance bracket (0.40–0.50 for 3–6 years in the unit); there is no unit-specific special allowance. The default is a sergeant on a support post with 8 years of service, 3–6 of them in NIL, without jumps; actual posts are not public. Housing benefit uses the Kraków garrison factor (4.3) — our reading of the unit’s address.

Also required

  • Soldiers of special forces units have priority. Four stages: (1) questionnaire and interview; (2) psychological tests, a military medical board (fitness for special forces service), the fitness test and an English test (STANAG 6001 certificate); (3) basic selection (3 days) or extended selection (5 days), depending on the post; (4) an interview. The unit’s pages give no age limit.
  • The test has 7 events for men and women — 3,000 m, a 50 m freestyle swim without a time limit, pull-ups, bench push-ups, the envelope run, 10 × 10 m and sit-ups — and the organiser picks 4 to score, always including the 3,000 m. The commander may lower the requirements for posts of special importance.
  • Selection takes place in the mountains (Beskid Niski, Wyspowy, Żywiecki or others): basic selection is 3 days and about 60–100 km, extended selection 5 days and about 100–140 km, both with a 40–50 km timed long-distance march; its time limit and the pack weight are not published. Posts with compulsory parachute training need a selection of at least 5 days. In 2026 stage II was on 8 September and the extended selection on 26–30 October.

Questions

How do the 90 points work?

Each of the 4 events is scored with the tables of the Ministry of Defence regulation (Dz.U. 2024 poz. 396) for your age group — up to 44 points for the run, 21 for pull-ups, 19 for 10 × 10 m and 16 for sit-ups — and the sum must be 90 or more. By our calculation for age 21–25: 3,000 m in 12:30, 14 pull-ups, 10 × 10 m in 29.5 s and 70 sit-ups give 88.8 points, which is not enough; 12:15, 15, 29.3 s and 72 give 92.0 and pass. The calculator uses that second set as the target.

Why is the minimum level so low?

Because it is the regulation’s minimum score in each event (26 points for the run, 9 for pull-ups, 2 for 10 × 10 m and 10 for sit-ups), converted to results for age 21–25, the strictest group. Falling below it fails the test at once, but reaching it gives only about 47 points — NIL needs 90. We chose 21–25 because the tables are toughest there; younger and older candidates have easier tables.

Where do the numbers come from?

From the JW NIL document “Kryteria egzaminu sprawności fizycznej dla kandydatów do służby w JW 4724” (DOCX, April 2025) and the unit’s pages “Zasady rekrutacji” and “Test sprawności fizycznej” on nil.wp.mil.pl, read on 18 October 2026, with points from the tables of the Ministry of Defence regulation of 7 March 2024 (Dz.U. 2024 poz. 396). The conversion of points to results and the 92-point example are our own calculation from those tables.
