Fysisk test niveau 5 (1st and 2nd selection)

Candidates for the Danish Frømandskorpset operator course take Forsvaret's physical test at niveau 5 twice: at the 1st selection and again as a stop test at the 2nd selection. The 5-day 3rd selection at Frømandskorpset includes running, marching, strength tests, rubber-boat drills, terrain runs, swimming and underwater exercises, but Forsvaret publishes no thresholds for them in 2026. Unlike Jægerkorpset, the official page lists no prior military service requirement.

Annual amounts calculated by us: the 2012 base amounts in the OK26 agreements (in force from 1 Apr 2026) multiplied by the regulation rate of 27.3204% from 1 Aug 2026; the next adjustment is due on 1 Apr 2027. The default assumes an operator serving as a sergent under the CS agreement, because Forsvaret does not publish the grade or agreement after training; the CS agreement pays frogmen and Jægerkorpset operators the same. We found no separate diving allowance (dykkertillæg) in the current agreements. The employer pension contribution is paid on top and is not included in the total.

  • Minimum age 21 (under 31 preferred, not a limit); health category “Egnet C”; vision at least 6/6 in each eye without glasses or lenses; BMI up to 30 as standard; no dependence on daily medication; plus a diving medical examination (dykkermedicinsk undersøgelse).
  • Selection in five stages: 1st (1 day, week 15 in Fredericia or week 16 at Holmen: niveau 5 test and digital tests), 2nd (1 day, week 25, Forsvarets Rekruttering: niveau 5 again as a stop test plus a medical examination), 3rd (5 days, week 37, at Frømandskorpset: running, marching, strength tests, teamwork and rubber-boat exercises, terrain runs, swimming and underwater exercises), 4th (1 day, week 39: interview with a psychologist and a board), 5th (1 day, week 40, Forsvarets Sanitetskommando: diving medical examination).
  • Training lasts 2 years including basic military training: SOF basic training (SOFBU, Frederikshavn), Phase 1 SOF Selection (Kongsøre), Phase 2 JOINT SOF basic course (Kongsøre and Aalborg) and Phase 3 frogman specialist training. The next course starts on 11 January 2027.

Questions

Are there swimming or marching standards?

Not published in 2026: the official page names swimming, underwater exercises and marches at the 3rd selection but gives no distances or times. The last official figures we found are from Frømandskorpset's own site around 2011: a Cooper test of at least 2,800 m, 300 m swim (crawl or breaststroke) in at most 8 minutes, 25 m underwater swim, a march of about 70 km with about 10 kg, a 15 km run and a muscular endurance circuit 3 times as fast as possible (max. 12 minutes). Treat them as training guidance, not current standards.

Do the standards depend on age or sex?

No. The niveau 2–5 table has no age or sex columns, so the same values apply to everyone. The Danish test contains no push-ups or sit-ups; strength is tested with split squats, dips, pull-ups and burpees. Dips and pull-ups are required in 3 sets of 5, entered here as reps per set. Frømandskorpset, Jægerkorpset and the Sirius patrol all use the same niveau 5.
