Forțele pentru Operații Speciale — Comando (Batalionul 53 Comando „Smaranda Brăescu”)
Annual fitness test, M.99/2021 table 1, group II — entry to the FOS Comando qualification (Testul de evaluare a nivelului de pregătire fizică)
Serving soldiers enter the Romanian Special Operations Forces through the Comando qualification programme at the FOS training school „Burebista”: 22 weeks (13 weeks of preparation and 9 weeks of evaluation and selection), with assignment to the 53rd Comando Battalion in Bacău. To apply, a candidate must pass the army’s annual fitness test at the special-operations standard (table 1) for age group II (30–35), whatever their actual age. The test is push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups and a 3000 m run, all on the same day.

Questions
Why age group II if I am younger than 30?
The 2024 call for the Comando programme requires a pass at table 1, group II (30–35), regardless of the candidate’s age. The annual test itself has seven age groups; for group I (under 30) the special-operations minimums are higher: 45 push-ups, 45 sit-ups, 9 pull-ups and 3000 m in 15:15. Values are the same for men and women. Each event scores 50 points at the minimum and up to 100 above it (for example +2 points per extra push-up, +5 per extra pull-up).
Is there a loaded march or a published selection standard?
No. The FOS sources do not publish a loaded-march standard, and the standards of the CFOS selection itself (Dispoziția S.M.Ap. 81/2021) are not public. The calculator therefore checks only the entry test. The only related figure in the regulation is an obstacle course of 6 minutes (under 35) or 7 minutes (over 35) before deployments abroad.
Where do the numbers come from?
From the order of the Minister of National Defence M.99 of 13 May 2021 (Monitorul Oficial no. 524 of 20 May 2021), Annex 2, table 1, in force since 1 January 2022, and from the ScIFOS „Burebista” call for the Comando qualification programme (February 2024), which names group II. Later amendments to the regulation (M.190/2023, M.213/2024) could not be read, so the values are marked as approximate.
