Armee-Aufklärungsdetachement 10 (AAD 10)
Pre-selection sports test (Sporttest Vorauswahl) — pass/fail minimums

AAD 10 is the professional unit of the Swiss Armed Forces Special Forces Command (KSK) in Ticino; its operators are specialist career officers and NCOs (Fachberufsoffiziere/-unteroffiziere). The 2-day pre-selection (Vorauswahl) combines psychological tests with a sports test: pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups, a 5 km cross-country run, an 8 km speed march with at least 15 kg, a 300 m swim and a 25 km march with at least 25 kg. The values are pass/fail minimums with no scoring scale.

From 1 Jan 2027 the new federal pay system applies (class minimum, target pay and maximum; the local supplement Ortszuschlag is abolished). AAD 10 operators are in pay class 17 and move up one class after 6 and after 12 years if the requirements are met. Starting pay is 100% of the class minimum plus 2.95% of it per year of relevant experience (years 1–5) — the 3/5/10-year steps are our calculation, and how many years the DDPS recognises is not known; officers get a somewhat higher starting pay (amount not published). Monthly = annual ÷ 13. The freefall allowance (CHF 13,755 a year) applies only once you are qualified, and its monthly split is our assumption; mission allowances are not published.

provisional = official source with a provisional legal status, a secondary source or our own calculation; see the sources.

Questions

Why is the 25 km march not in the calculator?

On day 2, after the swim, candidates march 25 km over hilly terrain with at least 25 kg (water and food on top). The army gives only a guide time (Richtzeit) of 3.5 hours, not a limit, so there is no pass mark to compare against. Train for it anyway: it comes after a full first day of tests.

Is there a scoring scale above the minimums?

No scale is published: each event is simply passed or failed against the minimum, and the army's pages list a single set of values. Order matters — pull-ups, sit-ups and push-ups follow each other with 2-minute breaks, then about 30 minutes before the 5 km run and about 4 hours before the 8 km march.

Where do the numbers come from?

From the Swiss Armed Forces document "Durchführung Sporttest" for the AAD 10 pre-selection (dated 14 August 2026 on vtg.admin.ch) and the AAD 10 page on vtg.admin.ch (read 18 October 2026); the values match the earlier "Sportprüfung im Vorauswahlkurs AAD 10" and the 2018 brochure 82.105.d.
